I have wanted to walk up to the neighbor property behind my house to see if I could get a good angle on the sunset. It was pretty from up there. It had a nice view of the berry farm.

Even More Ice Pictures
It seems everything is incased in ice. Even the brick of our house has a casing of ice. My son had fun pulling it off in sheets then smashing it. The dogs still think its fun to play in the snow and get extra excited when they go outside. Morgan and Buster have a romp together.

Snow Angels
Ok, so I just had to make snow angels. I can't remember the last time I did this. I tried it one time with my big heavy shoes and jacket, but just did not get the look I wanted, so I did it again without all the jackets and froze!!! But it was fun feeling like a kid again!

More Ice and Snow!
Today it seemed like the ice rain and snow would never stop. Every time I stepped out to take a few pictures the crashing of trees could be heard. We lost quite a few branches around, but fortunately we did not lose power. Our water pressure was pretty low today and portions of our county have to boil their water. I again feel fortunate we did not lose our utilities like many of our friends and family. I guess there is benefit to living out in the middle of the country without trees so close to the power lines and homes even if it does mean our driveway must to be plowed before we can get out. The dogs enjoyed romping in the snow and after plowing the driveway; my son enjoyed a few trips down the yard on his snowboard. This is only the second time we have had enough snow for him to snowboard on.

Ice and Snow
Today was a moderate ice and snow fall. We are trapped again! My son will plow the drive as soon as the snow stops falling a bit. It was funny watching Morgan on the ice packed snow. He is not heavy enough to break thru to get some traction. My car is a complete ice cube!

Farewell Dear Friend
Tonight a dear friend and fellow photographer, as well as my Vice President for the Photo Forum passed away. Rick Nevels will leave a huge whole in the lives of all who knew him. At just 56 years of age, he left us way too early. Rick was an extremely talented photographer. He and his wife shared a passion for photography. Rest in Peace Rick, I know I will miss you. My prayers are with your family.

Tioga Falls
I visited Tioga Falls today, but after a couple warm days, it was less than fantastic. I need to get back there in the spring.

Great Blue Heron
Today I came home to find a Great Blue Heron in the pond again. This time, being in the car, I was able to creep up slowly to him, getting closer than I have ever been able to before. He was able to fish near the drain area, everywhere else is frozen solid.

Morgan’s First Romp In The Snow
This is not our first white yard of the season, but it is the first that Morgan has been old enough to romp in. I love watching our bassets run. Those ears and rolls of skin dance all over their bodies! Morgan is 20 weeks old.

Freak Snow Storm
It looked like a freak snow storm hit the Highlands yesterday. The Mimosa Café and The Egg Roll caught fire on what was the coldest day I have felt yet. It was -2 degrees when the fire department worked to put out the fire. As they sprayed water the cold air froze it into this winter wonderland. Several neighboring streets are covered in ice as well. It is sad to see the damage, but the ice sculptures really are amazing.

I also went to the Louisville Zoo today, but after shooting animals in the wild, really was not all that thrilled to shoot through glass. I did watch the birthday party for Timmy, the oldest gorilla in captivity. He is 50!

Reelfoot Lake Tennessee #4
Today was my final day at Reelfoot then the trip home. It was a slow sunrise with very overcast beginnings, but I still enjoyed it. I finally got the take off and in flight shots I wanted today. What a wonderful way to end the weekend! Packing up to leave, the resident cat decided to pose for a picture.

Reelfoot Lake Tennessee #3
Today was RAINY! So since I could not do much on the lake in a miserable day, I found one of only four remaining covered bridges in Tennessee. This is the Parks Covered Bridge in Obion County Tennessee. After this side trip, I returned to Reelfoot to see if I would have any luck with the eagles, but it was still too gloomy to get much. A small owl is all that was to be found this evening. Oh well, partly cloudy forecast for the morning brings hope of a lovely sunrise before heading back home.

Reelfoot Lake Tennessee #2
Today, day two at Reelfoot Lake. Sunrise was FREEZING COLD! I am surprised I didn’t get frost bite. I found a Bald Eagle in the top of a tree and after waiting for over two hours for him to fly off to get him in flight; he lifted his wings, turned around and sat again. I finally gave up. Today the barred owl I found was out in the open with no branches in front of him. What a catch! I have to admit the close up eagle head and talons was in the rehabilitation cage at the visitors center. I also caught site of a Red Tailed Hawk and another spectacular sunset. It was a wonderful day!

Reelfoot Lake Tennessee #1
Today I arrived at Reelfoot Lake in Tennessee. I stayed at the Blue Bank Hotel. They have a great eagle watching package that includes a fantastic meal! I went with 16 members (2 more members headed out but sadly had to turn back) of my camera club, The PhotoForum This was my first time to come out to see the nesting Bald Eagles. Day one I saw some eagles but really could not get close enough for a good picture. I did find a Great Blue Herron and a Barn Owl. Sunsets over the lake are beautiful!
